MAC Matchmaster Foundation Review

Follow my blog with Bloglovin
As you know I'm all for trying out new foundations, so the other week I was at Bicester Village in the Cosmetic Company Store if i remember the name correctly.
And I picked up a fair few bits to try out, which are in the picture below.

The MatchMaster foundation is what I will be reviewing in this post, as I have been constantly wearing it ever since.
It retails for £27, but I picked it up got £17.50
The main reason why I brought it was because it was a MAC foundation at a fairly reasonable price. I had no idea about MatchMaster foundation, I hadn't read up on it but knew it was a recently new foundation.

I colour matched myself and picked it up in 3.0 which is fairly similar to my MAC Pro Longwear foundation.

To be completely honest there is not much of a big difference between the two, I find that the Matchmaster foundation gives a good medium to full coverage if you build well, and it defiantly lasts all day. So 100% for longwear!!

However a major plus is that is glides onto the skin much better than the prolongwear does, making application much quicker and easier.

The idea of MatchMaster is that it matches to the undertone of your own skin giving a unique finish.
I think this is true as long as you have the right colour for your skin in the first place.

I would defiantly recommend getting this foundation as I have worn it nearly everyday since, as it gives all over even coverage without it being too heavy on the skin.

Clarins Body Lift Cellulite Control

Out of all the posts on my blog the one that gets the most hits is

Clarins High Definition Body Lift

Now since posting that entry Clarins have revamped the High Def Body Lift.
They have changed the name and look of the product for starters but also the formulation of the product.

So I'm back to review it for you :)

What it does -

It still pretty much does exactly the same but its been reformulated to treat more stubborn and deeper cellulite by penetrating deeper into fatty tissues.

When I first heard they were changing this product, I was not too impressed as I think it was a perfectly good product before, with good results and that didn't need changing.

However if it says its changed for the better and gets more stubborn cellulite then heyyyyy we aren't going to say no to that are we.

The difference -

The texture is different, as the High Def had the small beads in which would disperse and release the caffeine to stimulate, the new formula no longer has that. Its just a baby pink gel instead.
Not entirely sure why they got rid of the beads as I thought it gave a good effect, but from what I hear you still get the weird warm sensation when applying, which makes it feel like its working either way!!

How to apply -

Still apply the same as before, after exercising or after the shower. Starting from the ankles and working your way up to keep the muscles stimulated and always working upwards towards the heart for best results.

So basically it is pretty much the same product as it was before. I still use it and I still swear by it, it is amazing and really works.

Its now £36.00 and you can purchase that here Link

Kate Spade Handbags

I thought I would do a special fashion entry, as I haven't before and I am totally in love with the designer Kate Spade I just had to share it with you guys too.

I was shopping at the outlet stores in the UK a few months back and came across the Kate Spade outlet, until then I had not heard or seen her stuff before.
I completely fell IN LOVE with all her handbag designs.

They have that modern yet classic look to them, and they leather used makes them look beautiful.
I also really love this brand as she uses daring colours, and I like anything bright bold and in your face, and that is exactly what she has.

So handbags + Colour = Gemma in love.

I pretty much want every single design in every single colour.

But these were a few of my favourites on the US site in the sale right now.

I literally need to have the Lincoln Square Little Kennedy in my life, however it doesn't ship to the UK so I am beside myself as I cant get it in the UK and I'm not heading to the US for a couple of months now!!

But heres to Kate Spade and her beaut bags, first bit of fashion blogging ;)

Revlon Nail Art Moon Candy

So recently Ive been seeing this little beauty's all over my twitter time line from the Revlon account.
They recently just launched in the UK with an event that was held in London with Jellys shaped in the Nail Art and colours that matched.

Instantly that caught my eye when flicking through Instagram and I wanted to know more.

I think they launched in the UK last week so the first chance I could I went out to buy one.
They are only available in Boots at the moment, and cost around £8.00

There wasn't that many colours out as either all the stock hasn't come in yet or every ones gone mad for them and brought them already.

But I picked up the 230 Satellite colour.

You apply the darker colour to the nails first, apply two coats for the effect to work.
The varnish dries really quickly as well so your not left waiting around to apply the glitter for ages.

Once the dark colour has dried then apply the glitter, apply two coats if you want more of a glitter effect.
Now its not like normal glitter varnish when its finished, it doesn't feel rough to touch of lose the sparkle really quickly.

I applied a Revlon top coat as well to keep the colour lasting longer, but the glitter was smooth to touch either way.

I think the Moon candy collection is really eye catching and I want to get all the other colours so eventually I can mix and match, and they save a lot more space in your makeup draw as your getting two varnishes for the price of one.

Revlon has also brought out two other nail collections, Nail Art Expressionist which has one colour to coat the nail with and another to play around with and do designs with.
The other is Nail Art Neon which comes with a bright colour and a white top coat which makes the nail neon, which I will defiantly look at getting if I am ever going to a Neon party, however unless its under UV light we will have to see if the Neon effect is noticeable.

Ill upload a photo of my moon candy nails soon for you to check out :)

Urban Decay Naked Skin Beauty Balm

I'm not really one for Beauty Balms as for me I don't see much point in them as they don't give the coverage I aim for.

But I got given the new Urban Decay Naked Skin one to try, and it seemed to have a lot more qualities than other BB creams.

It claims to be a BB cream with INSANE benefits, urban decay words itself.
It states that it has DNA Repair, Optical Blurring and its Oil Free.

The difference with this BB cream is that it isn't made for coverage and colour, what it does is it dries down to a demi matte finish leaving your skin looking naked but with a little help of the optical blurring giving you the flawless even effect.

It is supposed to even out the skin the more you use it, and it takes down redness and any open pores you may have.

If you look on the Urban Decay website, it claims to do a hell of a lot for a BB Cream.

So here is my view on it.

I was already sceptical about using it as I didn't believe it could make a difference for me.
But after doing a few make overs on the urban decay counter and using it on customers I noticed it gave a really natural glowing look.

However for me, I don't feel that it does that, once applied to my skin it doesn't look as if I have anything on, unless I apply loads of it.
The colour is supposed to suit most skin tones which I kind of believe seeing as it is invisible.

I would never wear it alone as I don't feel I could pull off just a BB cream so I applied my foundation over the top and I thought it made a slight difference to the finish but nothing major.

If your skin is already quite flawless then I would give it a go, its probably better if you were on holiday or going to the gym, defiantly not for a night out.

Oh and it smells a LOT different to any other BB cream Ive tried before, so go smell it!!!

Clarins Instant Smooth Self Tanning

I got this product on my allocation while working for Clarins but it mostly just sat in my draw for a while, until recently I discovered it.

I usually fake tan my body but never normally my face as I don't find it goes on flawless enough and it just ends up coming off at the end of the day after cleansing.

So I thought I would try this out, its like the Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch primer which I am in love with anyway.
Its a nice creamy brown colour in the pot and when applied to the skin it glides on really well leaving your skin feeling really smooth and looking flawless, you don't need to apply too much, as it gradually gets darker over time.

If you want a darker colour however, then apply more, but make sure you wash your hands after, you don't want that orange finger look going on.

The good thing about this product is that you could wear it in the day time, personally I wouldn't as at first it is a little sticky when applied.

Before applying- Make sure you use a gentle exfoliater so that you remove any dead skin, as you tan will stick to the dead skin and make it look uneven.

I tend to apply mine just before I go to sleep and Ill probably do this twice or three times a week depending on the colour i want to achieve.

Overall it leaves a really nice bronzed look and makes you look like you've just come back from a holiday. I defiantly noticed looking healthier after applying my Estee Lauder Double Wear.

If you want a natural tan quick and easy go buy. I think its about £21

Urban Decay All Nighter

While working on the counter I heard good things about all their setting sprays.
Now personally I didn't really believe in setting sprays I always thought a good long lasting foundation and powder were the keys to a successful night of lasting makeup.

However I tried out the Urban Decay All Nighter over my Mac ProLongWear foundation and I loved the finished results.

My makeup usually lasts me all day and night as I always wear a long lasting oil free foundation and make sure I powder to set it in place, but I found that when I used the All Nighter it gave a sort of glow to the finished look.
Sometimes when you finish a look with powder you can be left with a dull complexion and lets be honest everyone wants that warm glow to their skin rather than a dull face.

For me the All Nighter gave me that and gave moisture to the make up.

Depending on different skin types you can choose from a range of three different sprays.

If you are prone to oil and shine, you can opt for De Slick which will help keep oils at bay, its also oil free as well.
Or if your the opposite and have a more dehydrated/dry skin type then you can go for Dew Me to give the dewy finish.

The counter I worked on had these bottles but Urban Decay are actually in the mids of changing their packaging, and bringing out all three in travel sizes which is perfect for keeping in your bag.

The new packaging looks like this.

Urban Decay OZ Palettes

So the other week I worked on an Urban Decay counter and completely fell in love with all the products.
I already own an eye primer potion and a Naked Palette but I hadnt really looked at any of the other stuff so it was amazing to work with a new brand and learn about all their products.

Last week they brought out the new Oz Palettes which are from the film The Great And Powerful OZ, and I completely fell in love with them.
I havent seen any other brand do what Urban Decay do, they are completely original and the packaging is beautiful on all the products, I would be proud to have it all in my makeup bag.

Both the palettes are Disney limited edition, they come in a beautiful tin packaging which you can pop in and out colours, so its reuseable which is really good. You also get a lip stick and a 24/7 eyeliner.

I personally purchased the Glinda Palette as I would use those colours more than the Theodora Palette.

That is what the Glinda Palette looks like, it comes with a lip colour in Glinda and the eyeliner in Rockstar. For me personally the lip stick is too nautural and pretty much the same colour as my normal lips.

You also get a card with the palette with a Get The Look face chart on it telling you how to complete the look and what colours to put where which is really useful if your not a keen make up artist.
All the colours in the palette are limited edition and brand new colours, so you wont be able to purchase them individually, it also comes with a two tone colour called OZ which is gold and silver.

This palette is perfect for flair complextions and a subtle eye.

When looking at both the palettes I originally wanted the Theodora palette as I tend to go for warmer colours over pinks, but when it came to it the colours were fairly similar to the Naked palette and theres noway I would use a green on my eye.
However if you have a warmer complextion this will be perfect for you and you get the red lips and black liner. Perfect for that sexy subtle look.

Make sure you grab one before they are all gone as I imagine they are going to attract a lot of make up junkies attention and they will soon be on every one of our dressing tables haha.

Hi 2013

Hey my gorgeous readers, its been a while right...

I have had so much going on over the last month or so I haven't had time to get on here and update you on some things.

So a quick over view, in December I left Clarins, it wasn't initially planned but it was something I had been thinking about doing for a while to go off an explore other passions I have.
I still have an amazing passion for make up and have continued to stay within the industry but by working with a lot of different brands which is amazing for me to learn new things and be in new places all the time.
I get bored easily you see ;)

So while I am still in the make up industry I have gone onto pursue my first love which is Performing Arts. It has felt like the right time, I have been meaning to do this for so long but have always worried about not having constant work, but Ive done it and its exactly where I want to be and what I want to be doing.

I got my first job on a film in January which was amazing, it was one of the longest days I had done in a while. But forgetting the hours, it was one of the best days of my life and it kicked 2013 off to a positive start and it made me realise its what I love.

'If you love what you do then you will never have to work a day in your life'

I look forward to sharing the rest of my story with you guys :)

Stay tuned
